Clients:

Originally from the region, both clients work in the aerospace industry.

They have turned their home on the Basque coast into a peaceful retreat — a place to slow down and recharge between frequent work trips.

Passionate travellers themselves, they also love welcoming family and friends into the house they grew up in, creating a setting for shared moments and lasting memories.

General brief:

A carte blanche to breathe new life into the family home while preserving its sense of place and personal history.

Specific requirements:

Air conditioning, generous openings onto the outdoors, a large and welcoming kitchen, and a carefully curated selection of collectible design and art furniture.

Details

Open, welcoming spaces were designed to encourage togetherness and shared moments, while a generous opening to the outdoors creates a seamless connection with the garden and becomes a defining element of the house.

Alongside these communal areas, more intimate spaces were introduced, allowing everyone to enjoy this unique home at their own pace.

The project involved rethinking the circulation throughout the house, completely stripping back the existing interiors, replacing all windows and doors, and redesigning the layout and built-in elements. The spaces were redefined through a considered approach to materials and forms, complemented by a carefully curated selection of collectible design and art furniture.
