Mission

Clients:

A family living in Asia, with deep roots in the Basque Country, regularly returns to their home in Bidart to reconnect with the landscape and way of life they cherish. Located close to the coastal path, the house enjoys a unique natural setting.

The clients wanted to preserve a distinctly holiday-like spirit and a relaxed atmosphere, expressed through the choice of materials as much as through the architecture and layout.

General brief:

Raising the roof structure to create additional bedrooms, including the addition of dormer windows; redesigning the outdoor spaces with the creation of a swimming pool; and rethinking the circulation and connections throughout the exterior.

Specific requirements:

A dedicated access designed specifically for returning from surf sessions.

Details

Inside, new openings were created to expand the living spaces and strengthen their connection with the surrounding landscape. Outside, the garden was carefully landscaped around the swimming pool, creating a relaxed setting for leisure and gathering.

Natural materials were used throughout the project.
A dedicated outdoor shower was designed for returning from surf sessions, alongside a purpose-built pool house.
