Clients:
A family with a deep-rooted connection to Biarritz entrusted Maentler with the transformation of their home, guided by a clear vision that brings together comfort and understated elegance.
For their three children, Biarritz is far more than a destination. It is a cherished place for coming together, sharing time and creating lasting family memories.
General brief:
A complete restructuring of the house, designed to accommodate both family life and seasonal rental. The home was conceived first as a second residence, with the flexibility to eventually become the family’s primary home.
Specific requirements:
Recreate a façade inspired by the distinctive character of a traditional Basque house; introduce a skylight above the bathtub in the master suite, offering a view of the night sky; create a fluid and sculptural staircase; establish a subtle separation between the living and dining areas; open the kitchen onto the outdoors; and provide dedicated bicycle storage.
Throughout the living spaces, particular attention was paid to preserving the natural flow of light from one side of the house to the other.
