Mission

Clients:

A family with roots in south-western France.

Their renovation project focused on a house tucked away at the end of a courtyard, whose new façade draws inspiration from the architectural character of traditional Basque homes. The project brings together heritage and contemporary living, with a strong emphasis on a seamless relationship between indoors and out.

The boundaries between interior and exterior are softened, creating a fluid, light-filled environment designed to support a harmonious family life.

General brief:

Complete restructuring of the house, including the creation of a balcony, transforming it into a refined pied-à-terre.

Specific requirements:

To create a façade inspired by the distinctive architectural language of the traditional Basque house.

Details

Creation of a master suite, an additional bedroom, and supplementary sleeping arrangements within the living room, together with a shared bathroom accessible from all areas of the house.

The existing windows were replaced with French doors opening onto a traditional Basque-style balcony. A new balcony and arched entrance door were also created.
